Zari in Diamond's New Video as His Bride - Everyone is Shook

Diamond Platnumz revived all the drama which surrounded his broken relationship with Zari when he released his new song, Iyena. The video features Diamond and Zari exchanging vows.  The video was shot last year before they officially broke up.

Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has eventually said 'I do' to Ugandan socialite and the mother of his two children Zari Hassan, just three months after their well publicized break up.
The two parted ways acrimoniously in February this year after being together for three years.
Zari called off the relationship on Valentine's Day by posting a picture of a black rose and a lengthy message to Diamond saying she was tired of the singer's infidelity.

However, Diamond has now released a new song which captures him taking his matrimonial vows with Zari looking heavenly in a Swahili bridal attire.
"... A wedding is a blessing you should appreciate it when received, because there are a lot of people crying to have it, in our tribe divorce is a sin... take my phone delete the numbers and block all my side chicks and exes... " goes part of Diamond's lyrics in the song.
The song titled Iyena is a collaboration between Diamond and Wasafi signed artiste Rayvanny.
Diamond's mother Bi Sandra, who is known to be very fond of Zari, reacted to the new song by showering praises on the socialite on social media.
"Mama Latiffah mwenye... #IYENA yake Mwanamke usafi gaga kulisugua Mume akirudi sharti viatu kumvua... @diamondplatnumz ft @rayvanny," wrote Bi Sandra.

Govt Collects Three Years' Worth of Tanzanite Royalties

Govt Collects Three Years' Worth of Tanzanite Royalties

Tanzania Minister for Minerals Angellah Kairuki has told parliament that it has collected over U.S.$269,000 in royalties from tanzanite artisanal miners in three months, from January to March 2018 which is more than what it collected in the last three years.

The government said on Thursday that it has collected Sh614.67 million as royalty from tanzanite artisanal miners in three months, from January to March this year.
This is more than what it collected in the last three years.
The Minister for Minerals Ms Angellah Kairuki said the increase followed the controlling of the tanzanite mining.
Last year, the Speaker of the National Assembly Mr Job Ndugai formed a special committee to investigate tanzanite mining which recommended controlling the mining.
President John Magufuli also ordered fencing the tanzanite mining area as a way of controlling it.
"Due to such steps, the government collected Sh714.67 million as royalty for three months with Sh614.67 million being from artisanal tanzanite miners," said Mrs Kairuki.
According to her, in 2015 the government collected Sh166.85 million as tanzanite royalty from the artisanal miners, Sh71.86 million in 2016 and Sh147.14 million in 2017.
Mrs Kairuki was tabling her ministry's budget for 2018/19.
The budget has increased from Sh52.445 billion in the current financial year to Sh58.9 billion in the next financial year.
She also said that only 36 per cent of the current budget was released by March this year and just 3.8 per cent of the development budget was released.

Will HIV/Aids Self-Testing Help Reduce Pandemic in Tanzania?

Will HIV/Aids Self-Testing Help Reduce Pandemic in Tanzania?

The health ministry has said that plans are afoot to review the law and allow Tanzanians to test for the virus on their own. The government recently launched a Strategic Plan IV to combat new HIV/Aids infections by 2030, urging more men to volunteer to get tested.

Dodoma — The government said on Thursday that it is planning to review the law and allow Tanzanians test HIV on their own.
Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children Ms Ummy Mwalimu said currently the laws do not allow individuals to test themselves.
"We have communicated with the Attorney General to bring the proposals for amendment and that will enable individuals to test HIV themselves within 15 minutes," said Ms Mwalimu.
She was responding to a supplementary question asked by Mr Masoud Salim (Mambile-CUF) who wanted to know what the government was doing to ease identification of people with HIV at a time when HIV prevalence has doubled in Dodoma.
Earlier, deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Mr Anthony Mavunde said the government plans to launch a special campaign to stimulate testing of HIV.

'It's a Big World, Everyone Shits, and Everyone Needs a Toilet'

'It's a Big World, Everyone Shits, and Everyone Needs a Toilet'

What is a compost toilet and how does it relate to Africa? That was the focus of my month-long trek through Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya in March 2018. Since I'm considered a compost toilet "expert," my job was to spread the word about composting as a sanitation solution, introduce people to compost toilets, design and build compost toilets and compost bins, conduct impromptu trainings and seminars, and monitor and document compost toilets installed in schools, villages, prisons, game parks, and households in slums, cities, and in remote locations. I learned a lot!
It helped that Cape Town was facing a "day zero," or a day when the taps run dry and toilets no longer flush. There was a lot of chatter online from South Africans trying to come up with alternatives to the flush toilets they so depended upon. There is obviously a lot of misinformation and confusion surrounding this topic. For example, there's a big difference between "compost toilets," "composting toilets," and "dry toilets." A dry toilet is any toilet that doesn't depend on water to function, like a flush toilet does. This can include things like incinerating toilets and chemical toilets, for example, as well as a compost toilet, which is a type of dry toilet.
A "composting toilet" is kind of like a unicorn, it doesn't really exist, but people keep repeating the term anyway. Composting doesn't take place inside toilets, hence the term "composting toilet" is not only incorrect and misleading, but it damages the composting industry, because "compost" and "composting" are real things with specific requirements and characteristics.
What people refer to as "composting" toilets are actually dry toilets designed to dehydrate the toilet contents. You can call them waterless toilets, or biological toilets, or ecological toilets, but don't call them "composting" toilets. The toilet contents are dehydrated by draining or diverting urine, by venting out moisture, and by heating the toilet contents using external heat sources such as electricity or solar. These toilets often use a carbon-based cover material, like compost toilets do, and the dehydrated organic material may eventually look something like compost, but it isn't. (1)
Most dry toilets do not compost because the toilet contents don't generate internal biological heat, primarily because of their small organic masses and organic material that is too dry. When organic material is subjected to a true composting environment, it is converted into humus or soil by microorganisms while human pathogens are eliminated or significantly reduced. Dehydration toilets do not achieve composting, although their contents can later be added to a true composting system and presumably thereby processed for pathogen removal.

Dropping Tanzania Lending Rates Like Its Hot

Dropping Tanzania Lending Rates Like Its Hot

Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning Ashatu Kijaji has told parliament that the government has outlined five policy measures to stimulate lowering of lending interest rates in the country.

Dodoma — The government has outlined five policy measures it has taken to stimulate lowering of lending interest rates in Tanzania.
Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning Dr Ashatu Kijaji also told the National Assembly that the government will continue taking more measures to ensure further decrease of the interest rates.
Dr Kijaji was responding to a question asked by Mr Khatibu Haji (Konde -CUF) who wanted to know steps taken by the government to reduce interest rates in the banking sector.

"After taking some policy measures, alredy some banks have positively responded by lowering their interest rates," said Dr Kijaji mentioning CRDB bank, NMB Bank and Banc ABC to have lowered the rates.
The meaures include the use of credit reference bureau system; lowering of BoT short-term loans to commercial banks to 6.89 per cent; lowering discount rates from 16 per cent to 9 per cent; reduving Statutory Minimum Reserves Requirement from 10 per cent to 8 per cent; and paying of audited debts to reduce non-perfoming loans.
Some MPs who asked supplementary questions congratulated the efforts takenk and asked it to ensure further reduction of the rates.
"The current interest decrease involves just loans to employees and we would like to see this reflected in trade loans.
"Loans issued by microfinance institutions are also still expensive and serve many Tanzanians," said Mr Haji.
